What telehealth means
Telehealth uses remote communication, such as secure messaging, telephone, or video, to support clinical care. The methods available depend on the service, location, and clinician. The treating service explains its process and obtains any consent required before providing care. Reading this page or clicking a category does not record consent to treatment.
Benefits, limits, and alternatives
An online visit can make a care conversation easier to access. It also has limits: a clinician may not be able to perform a physical examination, and incomplete information or technical problems may affect the assessment. In-person care, additional testing, or another provider may be appropriate. You can ask about alternatives before deciding whether to proceed.
Your role in a visit
Provide accurate identity, current location, medical history, allergies, medications, and relevant symptoms. Use a private location and a device you control. Tell the clinician who else is present. Ask questions if an explanation, charge, or treatment instruction is unclear. Inform the care team about connection problems or a change in your condition.
Privacy and communications
Remote communication carries privacy and security risks, including device access, accidental disclosure, and technical failures. Review the treating service’s privacy notice and communication practices. Do not assume ordinary email or social media is a secure clinical channel. Ask the service how to obtain records and how to reach the care team between visits.
Choice and clinical judgment
You may decline a proposed treatment and discuss alternatives. You can ask the provider how to withdraw telehealth consent or discontinue a service; fees for services already provided remain subject to the terms you accepted and applicable law. An online visit does not guarantee a prescription or particular result.
Emergencies and provider-specific consent
Telehealth browsing and routine support are not emergency services. Call 911 or seek emergency care for an emergency. The specific consent, clinical policies, and provider identity presented during intake govern your visit. Contact care support. For a website or privacy question, include “TellyMeds” in your message. Please do not send medical records, payment details, or identity documents by ordinary email.
